This afternoon, we started to draw a lines plan, with drawing kits in the drawing room.

Drawing a lines plan of boat is similar to lofting, the difference is the scale. When lofting, we need to loft the boat in full size. But drawing, we do it in scale of 1:10. Actually, this can explain why we need to loft the boat before we start to build it. In the drawing, because of the scale, some errors can not be seen because they are so small on the paper. However, once you loft it, you may find that the error could be something like 1cm or 10cm. This is enough to cause a lot of trouble by making lines unfair.

The step is also similar. Starts with straight line to construct the grid, then the curves.

Battens are used to draw curves, while ducks are used to hold the batten.
